Guy “Chip” Chipparoni is President and CEO of Res Publica Group, a Chicago-based public relations, marketing and public affairs agency he founded in 2002 following leadership roles at both KemperLesnik and international public relations firm, Hill & Knowlton.
Res Publica Group works with a diverse client base, spanning many sectors, from sports, entertainment and hospitality to health care, insurance, real estate and technology. The firm is teemed with communications professionals who understand the intersection of media, public perception and public policy.
The clients who partner with Res Publica Group benefit from the staff’s institutional knowledge, forged and strengthened over four decades of providing top-line counsel in Chicago and across the country. In Chicago, Res Publica Group has long been considered the go-to firm for clients, especially C-suite executives seeking counsel on complex matters.
In 2025, Chipparoni accepted a mayoral appointment to serve as Chairman of the Board of Choose Chicago, the city’s marketing arm charged with protecting and enhancing Chicago’s vital convention and tourism industry. Immediately upon taking on the role, Chipparoni led the board through an effort to rebuild the organization’s corporate structure, adopting new compliance and transparency measures.
Following that, he chaired Choose Chicago’s campaign to successfully pass the historic Tourism Industry District (TID) ordinance, an initiative that had previously languished since 2022. By its passage, Choose Chicago’s annual budget will increase from $35 million to approximately $80 million annually, a transformative investment in the city’s ability to market itself globally.
Before founding Res Publica Group, he served as a senior advisor to Illinois Governor Jim Edgar and began his career navigating hospitality and tourism industry issues for the prominent, private owners of Hyatt Hotels Corporation. He served on the Chicago Advisory Board of U.S. Bank following years as a member of the Metropolitan Pier & Exposition Authority and Chair of Navy Pier and its marketing committee. He is repeatedly listed on Crain’s Chicago Business’s “Who’s Who” guide, which recognizes the most influential figures shaping the city.
He grew up in Chicago’s south suburbs and is a graduate of Illinois State University. He is married to his wife, Becky, and together they have three grown children.
