Brendan Hostetler brings more than a decade of public policy, research, campaign, lobbying, and communications experience to Res Publica Group. As a staff member and Legislative Coordinator for Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan, Brendan played a critical role in the operation of the House of Representatives and developed policy initiatives for the Speaker and members of the majority caucus.

While serving on the Speaker’s staff, Brendan concurrently was an operative for the Democratic Party of Illinois. In that role, Brendan served as campaign manager for several targeted races and as press secretary for a state Supreme Court Candidate in the most expensive judicial race in U.S. history. Brendan was also a communications advisor for the Party, crafting strategic messages for individual campaigns, developing rapid responses to identified threats, and implementing grassroots campaign strategies.

Brendan has a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from the University of Illinois at Springfield. Prior to joining Speaker Madigan’s staff, Brendan served as the Assistant Director of the Survey Research Office at UIS. Since leaving government, Brendan has established a lobbying and consulting practice, with clients ranging from public affairs firms to Fortune 500 corporations.

Brendan and his wife reside in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood.
