Fay Hartog Levin
Senior Consultant

Fay Levin joined Res Publica Group from a career in the public sector, both as an attorney and as an executive at Chicago’s Field Museum. At Res Publica, she advises clients on all aspects of internal and external communications and relationship building, with an emphasis on the non-profit and cultural sector. She has assisted non-profits to develop strategic partnerships, to leverage their visibility, and to maximize their support among traditional and non-traditional audiences and funders.

At the Field Museum, Fay served on the executive management team as Vice President for External Affairs from 1997-2005.  In that capacity, she led the Museum’s campaign for public funding, resulting in more than $60 million dollars of legislatively directed grants from city, state and federal agencies for the Museum’s operating and capital budgets. She was the Museum’s liaison to the City and its many departments and led the Museum’s outreach activities to a variety of community organizations. In her capacity as Vice President, she supervised the Department of Public Services, Human resources and Information technology.

As an attorney, Fay began her career as a legal advisor to the Illinois State Board of Education, advising the State Superintendent and Regional Superintendents of Education on the interpretation and application of the Illinois School Code.  In private practice, she joined the law firm Seyfarth, Shaw, Fairweather and Geraldson, representing primarily school boards, private and public colleges, and social service agencies.
Fay became recognized as a national expert in several areas of school and employment law. Her experience and knowledge in the volatile areas of first amendment rights, AIDS in the schools, teachers’ strikes, and school district boundary changes gave her unique exposure to crisis management.
.
Fay has been a member of the Illinois Arts Alliance Board since 1997, and has served its Executive Committee in several capacities. Her term as Chairman began in 2006. She also serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the Merit School of Music and as a trustee of DePaul University. She is a member of the Advisory Board of U.S. Bank in Chicago.
