Merrin Permut
Account Executive

Merrin brings experience in opinion journalism and public policy to Res Publica Group. She provides writing and media relations support to clients primarily in the areas of transportation, health care and development.

Merrin previously worked as an intern for the Chicago Tribune's Editorial Board. She proposed editorial concepts and researched and compiled commentary pieces. Merrin also worked on the Tribune's political endorsement process for the 2006 primary, conducting background research for each candidate and participating in candidate interviews. Merrin conducted a qualitative analysis for both the Voice of the People section and the Commentary page. Merrin also spent a summer in London where she was an intern and research assistant for a ranking Conservative Member of Parliament. She was responsible for handling constituent concerns by working with the various government departments and researching and writing draft legislation.

Merrin sits on the Board of Directors for Community Building Tutors, a not-for-profit tutoring and community outreach group led by young professionals. Merrin is responsible for event planning, media and community outreach, as well as fundraising for the organization. Merrin earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where she double-majored in Political Science and Psychology.
